A very fine New York Federal mahogany Pembroke table, associated with the workshop of Charles Christian, circa 1810
A appealing New York Federal Era Pembroke table closely associated with a labeled table made by Charles Christian. Christian made furniture for the New York Mayor's office in City Hall in 1814 and his workshop at 90 Fulton Street in New York City was a few doors down from Duncan Phyfe's workshop.
Like many other New York cabinetmakers of his time, he catered to merchants involved with Southern and West-Indian Trade routes.
