An American Federal mahogany slant front desk, Middle-Atlantic
States, circa 1800
An appealing American Hepplewhite slant top
desk from the Middle-Atlantic Colonies, most likely the Baltimore
and Philadelphia urban environs, late 18th early nineteenth
centuries. The interiors contain a series of document partitions,
horizontal drawers, and a central prospect door flanked by
hidden drawers.
Condition: Overall excellent condition retaining the original
oval stamped brass pulls. The hinges to the fall front have
been replaced at least once. The finish has been professionally
conserved by means of a “French” polish. Retains
the original feet and blocking.
